Day 1: Take 2

I am the lamest of the lame, sickness-wise, for being out so long. I figured the only responsible thing to do would be to start over from the beginning. So I am. This my second first day (non-sensical?).

It went well... sort of. I'm doing the P90 Lean program, to just burn fat, and the first routine is Core Synergistics. It KICKED MY BUTT. Big time. I feel great emotionally for doing it, but sweet mother I am tired and limp. I'm all noodley. Ha ha.

Dave is on Week 3, and he's already seeing results. It's awesome cause he works out shirtless and you can totally see the definition in his stomach and chest. He looks really cool when he exercises. I think I look more like a semi-beached whale trying to wriggle back out to sea.

I am a little discouraged at how hard it was to do everything without using the little cheats they show you just in case, but you know what they say! The first day is the hardest!   ... again.

Days 3 & 4

So.... bad news. I got the flu. No joke. I got it BAD too. Put a fever of 102.5 degrees, stuffed sinuses, swollen tonsils, and a killer headache on top of the freaking rigor mortis that set in overnight, and you get one miserable mama. I called my husband at work, begging him in tears to come home and help me out with the baby. Luckily for me, he was only working a short shift that day anyway, and he was able to get home quickly. So that's where I stand (or rather, lay- in a bed of used tissues and tea bags. Ew).

As for Dave, he's right on schedule. He did the Plyometrics yesterday, and Arms&Shoulders today. Go Dave!!!

Day 2 part 2

Just to let everyone know, Dave woke up from his nap and did his workout.

Day 2

My hands are shaking as I type, I could barely stand in the shower, and I'm almost positive I dislocated a hip. Yet I don't necessarily feel bad. I do feel tired. REALLY tired. But also... happy. I feel good. I took the first step and completed the first workout. And guess what? It wasn't as scary as I thought. I did it alone too. That's right. My workout buddy took a nap. To be fair, I should tell you that he works early mornings, and I think I kept him up last night with my crazy just-getting-over-a-cold-so-I-sound-like-a-hibernating-grizzly-bear snore.

Since I wrote a countdown on my calendar starting yesterday, and then got too tired from the test to do an actual workout, I started on the Day 2 assignment: Plyometrics.

Holy crap.

My legs actually gave out on me by the end. It is so intense! With all the jumping around I shook the floor so much it woke my kid up from his nap (but not his daddy XP). Also, I'm pretty sure I need a new sports bra. I don't think my boobs are supposed to make an audible slap every time I land. But I did it! (Finish the workout, I mean, not make my boobs slap. Even though I did do that too). At the beginning of the video the instructor guy flat out says that this is the hardest one, so I was totally freaked out, like I'd be a whimpering mass of pain by the end. But I wasn't (mostly). So I figure if I made it today, I'm good. Afterall, the first day is the hardest, right?

Day 1 (sort of)

Alright. This is it.

Here's the deal: 2 people, 90 days. Two reasonably unfit people (my husband and myself) have set out to get RIPPED following the exercise routines and nutritional guidelines set out by the P90X fitness program. We are gonna shed pounds, and look fabulous! Today, we started by taking our measurements and taking the fitness test to make sure we were even physically capable of completing the program. Good news! We are! Barely.

Well, me, anyways. Dave did pretty well. Here's our stats:

                    DAVE                COURTNIE
weight         196 lbs                 172 lbs
chest            40.25 in               39.25 in
waist            33 in                    28.5 in
hips              36.5 in                 40.25

pull ups       5                          1
push ups     30                         5
toe touch     -3.5 in                  +2 in  (that means I can reach 2 inches past my toes!)
wall squat   1:45 min               1:27 min
curls            20 w/ 15lbs          20 w/ 10lbs
in&outs       40                        30

So that's where we start. Honestly, I don't really have any specific goals, except to FINISH. I put it in capital letters, so you know I'm serious. I'm not real picky about how many pounds I lose, it's more about just doing it. I want to cross that finish line. Not that I'll complain if I just happen to drop a couple dress sizes along the way :)

Now here's the bad news: It's gonna SUCK. I didn't even do an actual workout yet, just the fitness test, and it kicked my butt.

I need a nap.

I'll see you tomorrow, when the real work begins.
